NO, NO, NO! Please don't let it be popular! I want my daughter's name to be unique!!!
This is an all-time favorite that I am dying to use. It's pronounced the way you have it.
I tend to only plan for Hebrew names (or names honoring relatives, hence the recent Harriet and Dorothea questions for those who read my posts), and Aviva is in my top five. Seriously. It's absolutely perfect.

Well, even if you pick an unpopular name, it won't be "unique". An "unique" name is one of its kind.
Otherwise, I agree with Tippins. I have a super-popular name in my country, and my parents had picked it because they thought it was uncommon , and indeed it was for their generation (but there wasn't the internet at the time to check names'popularities).

i actually can't imagine it becoming that popular. it would have to be discovered first and most people haven't heard of it. unless some celebrity uses it it should be safe. it has potential to become extremely common but people would have to discover it first.

(short and feminine)
(exotic letters)
(v)
(two v's)
(snappy nicknames - avi, vivi)
(pretty unique)
("legit" for people who are concerned about legitimacy)
(pleasant meaning)
and imagine that it's going to be "unique" for any significant amount of time. Do you really think liking Aviva makes you above susceptibility to trends? How many parents who named their daughters Ava and Mia a few years ago are now tearing their hair in frustration?
Same logic goes for lovers of Layla, Adelaide, and Evangeline.

I can't see Evangeline becoming that popular, although I couldn't see that for Essence, Princess, or Precious either. Go figure.

I think Evangeline will enter the top 100 in 2010. sad, yes but i think more and more people use it. i have seen it a lot on message boards where people usually dislike unusual names and love names like Jayden.

Evangeline is quite popular. In the past two years it has come out of nowhere, from not placing at all, to being in the mid-400 top girl names in the US. Many women are using it for their children. The name will only continue to rise in popularity.

Aviva IS beautiful. I know how you feel. My DH and I had been talking about using Maia for about 6 or 7 years. It was the only name we ever agreed on. Now when we've actually got around to making babies...well, Maia is still very unpopular. However MAYA is not. It's very high in popularity ratings. Which makes my heart hurt. So, my sympathies...
