Maggie & Abby
I like both of these names, but I despise Margaret and Abigail. The problem is, I'm not really one of those people who can just use a nickname as a first name and not think anything of it. I don't know why, but it bothers me-it feels incomplete.
Anyway, do you guys have any alternatives to Margaret/Abigail, so that using these NN's might be an option in the future? Also, do you think these names would age well?

I think that Maggie is nice on its own and would age fine. Abby feels younger so i would look for an alternative first name.

Megan NN Maggie, but I can't think of anything else for the NN Abby. Maybe Annabelle, but that's a bit of a stretch.
I think you have enough examples from the other two posts. I just wanted to say that your post caught my attention because Margaret and Abigail are my #1 and #2 names for a girl. And I'd call them Maggie and Abby/Abbie. Heh. :)
I like Magdalene, nn Maggie. I don't know about Abby though. Abilene is alright.
