When transliterating names from Hebrew to English (as an example), it is important to choose an English spelling that closely reflects the pronunciation of the name in Hebrew. 'rah-MOH-nah', spelled Ramona, would therefore not mean the same thing as a spelling reflecting the pronunciation 'ree-MOH-nah'. Rymona, Reemona, Rymonah, Reemonah, Riemona, Riemonah, etc., yes, but not Ramona.
