Semiramide? I was just thinking about Semiramis (sp?) the other day and trying to decide if I like it or not. I assume Semiramide is the Italian form. Very intriguing!

Yes, Semiramide(seh-mee-rah-MEE-deh) is the Italian form. I fell in love with it when I first heard of the Rossini opera by this name.
I find that very few people like the name Benvenuta. I have to admit it's a bit clunky. I also love the French form, Bienvenue, which is also the French word for welcome(Bienvenu is the masculine form).
