Actually, noI haven't the faintest what you're talking about, but now I'm intrigued :P The book I had in mind was Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz.

Oh, okay! Haha. I was a horse lover as a little kid, and there was an old book series about a wild pony named Misty and her foal, Stormy. They were really cute books.
