Emily
yes, it happened. I fell in love with the most popular name in the world. Okay not in the world but in many english speaking countries at least. It all started with a name dream. I had a dream in which I bought two cockatiels and I named the female one Emily. That's when I thought "hmmmm it's nice for a bird". And then today I thought "hmmmm it's nice for a girl". I never thought this would happen and I don't think I'll use it as a first name but I can see myself using it as a middle name. Well maybe not because I want to use Emmeline and Estella as first names. There's still the bird I could get, though :P WDYT ? And how common is it where you live ? How many Emilys do you actually know ? And how old are they ?
Do you prefer Emma ? I used to but now I think Emma sounds kind of heavy I don't know....like an overweight farm girl and when I hear Emily I think of a little girl with curly hair wearing a cute dress. Weird I know, please don't be offended if you are named Emma or love Emma etc
Which one is you favorite Em-name ?
WDYTO:
Emerald
Emerson
Emma
Emily
Emmeline (pr. ?)
Emmie
Emery
Emmalyn
any others you can think of ?
thanks!

and I'm not offended. Have you thought of Emilia or Emmaline? I one preferred Emily to Emilia, but the Latin heritage overules Emily. (Emily is latin, but Emilia (Aemilia) is the original form.) Emmaline is my favorite alternative to Emma. Em and Emmy are cute nicknames, however, those nicknames don't fit an adult. I detest the name Emmalyn because "Lyn" is unisex. Emerald sounds nice for dragon, but not a person. Emery and Emerson sound masculine to me.
I have been really liking Emily lately. I have a great-aunt named Joan Emily. Some days I prefer Emily; others I prefer Emilie. I only know three Emilys - two spell their name Emilie and the other spells it Emily. One is 20, one is 18, and one is 15. I haven't met or even heard of any baby Emilys, which is surprising given the popularity. I've met way more Emmas, Isabellas/Isabelles, and Madisons.
Emerald is a GP. Emmie is cute as a nn but I prefer Emmy. Emerson / Emery seems masculine to me.

Hi. Emily's pretty, but excessively overused at the moment (thus, the middle nme is more practical... or the bird... or using it as a first name and having the child go by her middle name). Emma's close to equally over used at the moment.
Could play with a combo... Emi-Jo
As for me and "Em" names, I'm rather partial to Emiko. 恵美子
Could be fiddled with a bit to become Emika... 恵美香 or 恵美加 or
恵美佳 or 恵美歌
The catch with Jpns. names though is that the "e" is pronounced a bit closer to "ay", but can still be on the "eh" side of "ay".

Emily is a pretty name. I don't like the name Emma. I think it sounds too harsh and it's just in my option not as good as Emily.
I like the name Emerald and Emmie (Spelled Emmy) but I prefer it as a nickname.

I love Emmie but only short for somthing like Clementine (I love this name)
Emily is a nice enough name but its so so dull, i much prefer Amelie
Emma is ... well i just dont see the why people love it so much.
The others are a bit clunky I think although Emmeline could be nice depending on the person
I would prn Emmeline Em-eh-leen not Emma-leen
