Leili is lovely - it encompasses both ends of Leilani and sounds pretty.
Lanie is often used for other names such as Elaine.
Meri for Merrick otherwise he'll be presumed to be a Richard and there will be confusion - Meri is cool.

I've known two Leilanis. One went by Lani and the other went by Leila. Leili and Lanie both work, IMO.

Meri and Rick would both be fine for Merrick, though I don't really like Rick. I think Meri would be kinda cool.

Leili is best for Leilani I think but there's lots of possibilities. Lani's most intuitive.

I would go with Lani & Rick
