There was a Maxine at school - an unusual and interesting name. I like it and think it deserves more attention. It certainly beats Mackenzie, Madison, Mikayla etc!

I keep putting this on my list for DH, but he never picks it. I love this name.

Since we were considering Maxwell for a boy, my Mother-in-law, who had no idea what we planned to name our girl (we picked a name after our 18 week ultrasound, but kept it from family) kept trying to convince us to use Maxine, so she could be a "little M & M." Our last name begins with M. I told her we wanted to save Maxwell for a boy. I really meant it, but if I ever do have a boy, I wouldn't name him Maxwell now.

I don't think it is a bad name. I would prefer it as a middle name however. I think it would make a terrific middle name.

I like Maxine-it has spunk. And Max is a cool NN for a girl.

I like the name in and of itself, but then that's helped along by the fact that it's my paternal grandmother's name.

It strikes me a very retro hip, like a flapper's name. I would love to see someone name their daughter this. I think it also works well as a MN, having the same rhythm as Marie, but a completely different feel!

I really like it. I always thought it was very cute and underused. It would also make a great middle name!!!!

Oh, I like it too. In fact, it's on my PNL. It makes me think of the 1930s.
