HelpWDYT of Cedric?
I noticed the name in movie credits last night, and rather liked it. But then, I thought of Cedric the Entertainer. I don't remember ever seeing his act/show, but I've heard the name... and I would guess that if I know the name, everyone else would also have this association.
I haven't suggested it to my husband yet.

Cedric the Entertainer wasn't my first (or second) thought. Of course, me being such a Harry Potter fan, I thought first of Cedric Diggory, and that's the association I will always have with that name. It's a good association, too, because Cedric was a good guy who didn't deserve to die.

I don't have that association that you mentioned. I think the association with Harry Potter is a lot more common. I also think of the book "Little Lord Fauntleroy", which is a good association. So by all means suggest it. I would if I were you - I love this name so much!!

I just met a man the otherday (actually he was the technician who was doing my daughter's nuclear bone scan), anyway, his name was Cedric. Despite what was really a very traumatic day, he was absolutely wonderful. Kind, humorous, and open. I now rather like the name Cedric a lot.
Initially it sounds a little dated, and dorky, but having met this very caring man (who wasn't at all old or unnattractive either) I like it.
Its definitely a name I would like to hear more of.

Yah I know of Cedric the Entertainer. I tend to think of Cedric Diggory though :-) From Harry Potter.
The name itself is pleasant though imo I like it a lot, though mostly as a mn because everyone I know knows I'm into HP and if I named a kid Cedric they would think it's because of Cedric Diggory :/

This Brit has only ever heard/said SED-rik
And I'm sure most in the UK say SED-rik too.

SED-rik is the British pronunciation. I have known not just one but two British Cedrics - one a young academic and one a posh chap - and both pronounce it this way.
