Nicknames for Matthias?
I pronunce it ma-THIE-as. I'd like him to have a childhood nickname because Matthias seems like quite the load for a little boy, you know? I don't like Matt, it seems like such a waste, if that makes sense. Any other nickname ideas?TIA!

Mattis? It's a short form of Matthias used as a full name in Sweden. But Matthias is pronounced Ma-TEE-as over here. Still I think it's a really cute name or nick name and I think you can use it even if you pronounce it like Ma-THIE-as.

My sons name is Matias (prn Ma-TEE-as), we sometimes call him Matti. I don't think Matthias is too much for a child though. :)

I like Matti myself. But I think it's good that you have the option of Matt too. Even if you think it's too common, it can be good to have a regular back-up name. It's probably the best option for when he's a teenager too.You could also use Matas or Mats.

I know a small Matthias, no nickname, and it's not too much to bear in the slightest. I've also grown very fond of Matt as of late and recommend that you read Neil Gaiman's Sandman comics and see if you start to like it more, too. ;)That said, other nicknames:
Tai / Ty
Mess ;)
Mai / My
M_ (MJ, MK, MZ, whatever his initials are)Anything else seems like it could be way stretching it: Mads, Max, Mitts, Mate, Micey, Mace, Craig.Consider also the possibility of nicknames unrelated to his names arising. Spike, Ace, Buddy, Boo, Bear, Kidlet, Beans, Tex.Array

I know you don't like Matt, but what do you think of Matty/Maddy? I currently have a great fondness for it because of Matty Groves.Mas could work too, or Ty.
