BAs from England
It's been a while since I posted some BAs so here are the ones from the last month or so from Southampton, England. I can't say I really love any of them (although I like Eleanor and don't mind Emilia) but they're fairly typical, I think. Archie Glen
Harley Thomas Philip – “playmate” for Jordan and Benjamin
Isaac Leon
James Owen – brother for Izzy and Amber
Mikey
Noah John
Oliver Steven
Oscar
Riley Warwick
Samuel Joel – brother to Maya and Owen
Sid - [This seems v odd to me as a first name, even by English standards of shortening names.]
Thomas Brian – brother for Aaron, Nathan and Daniel. Cousin for Jasmine and CainBrooke-Louise (mum’s name is Jordan-Louise). Neice for Dan and Maddison.
Charlotte Rose
Dani Clare
Eleanor Alice – sister for Isabelle - [I like Isabelle and Eleanor]
Ellice Ruby
Emilia Tyla Virtue – sister to Kieran, Josh and Ethan - [Interesting combo]
Eve
Evie Louise
Evie Rose – sister for Molly and James
Faith Louise
Layla Julia
Lillie Paige
Poppy Joy
Rosie Kay
Ruby Mae – sister for Emily and RebeccaThere appears to be a trend of two-syllable fn (nicknamey) with a one syllable mn).

I wanted to call a future DD Ruby Mae for years, but then the combo got really popular and both are still popular now.

English people use beautiful names for their kids. I really like Ruby Mae.

really?!?!?! I think most of them are horrid! But then I live in England, so I'm used to seeing the 'nickname as fn-filler mn' combo. It just bores me now.

Yah, but compared to Nevaeh, Laquisha, McKenzie and Story...you guys have got us beat.
I have to admit, even though they may be grating on your nerves they really aren't bad names, or bad combos, in general.

I have opinions for this:1. Archie, Dani, and Evie are nicknames, not full given names.2. Warwick sounds pretentious, even if it's a middle name.3. Sid will be forever associated with Sid Vicious. But as for the rest, I like them!

I like Harley Thomas Philip-usually I'm not a fan of two or more middle names, but this one flows nicely.Isaac Leon and Samuel Joel are also nice.

I don't think Riley or Noah are british names, Sid is short for Sidney and was a 60s generation thing. Mikey, i don't get why this name has become so popular over here in the UK...or Oscar for that matter. British names are just traditional biblical victorian type names really. Very unoriginal.
Ellice is clearly made up and not british, as is Dani as shortening names like that is only done for cutsie-name purposes, Dani would almost certainly be Danielle.

I'm not quite sure what your point is. They are names used by British people living in Britain which makes them British names!Noah is currently no. 50 and Riley is at 58 in the popularity charts. Oscar is at 38.Ellice is presumably a re-spelling of Ellis and fits the current trend for El names (Ellie, Ella, Eleanor and Elizabeth are in the top 100, Eloise, Ellen and Elle were a few years ago). Ellis for a boy is at no. 78. If Dani really was Danielle then that is how her parents would have announced it in the paper. I didn't just make it up. Takes me long enough to collate the names, without inventing them as well!British names are not just Biblical or Victorian, believe it or not. http://www.behindthename.com/top/lists/100ew2007.php

Archie Glen - nooooo. they cant name a child Archie as a full name. as a nn its alright. though my great uncle was called Archie and really, really odd
Harley Thomas Philip - ooh, Thomas Philip good now get rid of the Harley and then I like it
Isaac Leon - Isaac seems to be a name in use a lot in england. I've met 2 baby Isaacs recently
James Owen – brother for Izzy and Amber
Oscar - good name
Samuel Joel - I like Samuel not Joel
Sid - mkes me think of the sloth from ice age
Thomas Brian - I like the Thomas bit
Eleanor Alice - best one on the list!
Ellice Ruby - is this Ellis, Elise or Alice?
Eve - lovely
Evie Louise
Evie Rose - not Evie, any other name, Evie is a great nn but not on its own
Lillie - the only time i've ever liked Lillie spelt like this was as a nn for Elizabeth. Lily is the better way otherwise
Poppy Joy - I like Joy but not Poppy and not to ys at the endsome good some bad. I like Eleanor most.
