Twin set
Wouldn't it be cool to name a boy-girl twin set Thomas and Tamsin-- not only are the names related, they actually mean 'twin.' Unless the double-T would bug you, like it does me... ; )

I wouldn't do it. The two names are too close. They sound too similar. I could see Deborah and Melissa, because both mean "bee", or Zoe and Eve, because both mean "life". In those cases, the names sound different. But Thomas and Tamsin? No, too similar.

Not at allThey come from the same name, which makes them essentially the same name. Also, I don't support the practice of naming twins related names. They're already going to be tied to each other from simply being twins, and having related names isn't going to help others see them as individuals. And naming a twin something that means twin is quite tacky. The double T kind of bugs me too, but not as much as all the other things I just said.

The idea of using a name that means twin for a twin is neat, but I don't like using different forms of the same name within a sibset, esp twins.

DittoThe meanings are cool, but they're practically the same name.

Hmmm, yeah, the T-repetition definitely is too matchy for me. My boyfriend is named Thomas (Tom), and we were actually discussing name meanings the other day - upon learning that his name meant twin, he said, "well, that's not fair, I wish I were a twin!"I do think Thomas would be a cool name for a twin, though, just not paired with Tamsin. If I ever have b/g twins or g/g twins, I'm definitely naming one of them Linnea, as it's also the name of the twinflower. I think Thomas and Linnea would make a cool twinset, actually...

x) I wouldn't do it. Cool, yes, but they could very well end up Tommy and Tammy, or Tam and Tom.
