I think Shelby is really cutesy and annoying. I really dislike the sound and I can't really compare it to historical feminine Abigail.

I agree about Shelby, but I also despise Abigail. One of the reasons I hate Abigail is that it sounds UNfeminine to me.

But it is indeed historical, and from that point of view it does really clash with Shelby.

I agree with Janan.

However, Abigail has recently become more and more popular. I'm getting sick of it. Though I'd choose it over Shelby, I am not particularly fond of either name.

I despise the name Shelby, and I can't picture it on anyone but an obnoxious little girl. I'd feel gypped if I were named Shelby and my sister something so lovely as Abigail.
