Oswald
What do you think of the name Oswald? It was my grandparents surname. I never thought about using it as a first name until now.

Love itI love names that transport me back in time. Oswald makes me think of Anglo Saxon England. Very retro-chic. And the nn Oz is too cool.

Although I dont like it, It would be very refreshing to hear on a little boy plus I love the fact that you want to honor.

was my very-much-loved maternal grandfather's name. Therefore I can only think good things about it. He was a straitlaced company lawyer and my grandmother Lillian was president of three different ladies' societies (not all at once); they were always being compared to Ozzie and Harriet, which aired when my gpts were in their heyday (the 50s and 60s).

I think of Lee Harvey Oswaldand I don't care much for the sound

I think it's completely awesome in the abstract, but would look--for lack of a better word--a bit goofy on an actually person. It's one of those names that I can see fitting the 70+ crowd but nothing very well beneath that.

No offense, since it's a family surname, but I think it has a very unpleasant sound. But since it is a family name, I think it would be okay to use it as a middle name.

I think it's rather ugly, I have a similar feeling about it as with the name Adolf. It has an unpleasant sound and doesn't sound friendly at all.

I immediately think of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Walt Disney's first big animated character (he had the rights snatched from him so well that the Disney company didn't win all of them back until just a few years ago). It's not a bad association; I'm just into cartoon history, so it's where my mind goes first.I don't really like Oswald myself, though Ozzie is a neat nickname. I could see it working, though I think I'd prefer it in the middle name slot. The sounds are quite unfashionable, so be prepared to hear a lot of "Ew!"ing from people around you who don't realize that it's a family name. ;)Array
