Camille vs Camilla
I think I am falling in love with the name Camille for a girl. Firstly it is my great grandfathers name (Camile) so I think that is fantastic. What are you opinions on the name? Do you prefer Camille or Camilla. What is your impression of a girl named this. Would you use Camile on a boy? Is it a more feminine name then masculine? Thanks

I really love both of these names but I do prefer Camilla, mainly because it's easier to spell and pronounce. The only thing that puts me off Camille is the fact that it sounds like "meal". I really loved this name until someone said this to me and now I can't think of anything else. Sorry, but this name is ruined for me now :(

I really like the name Camille on a girl, Camilla is ok but I much prefer Camille. Camile (assuming its the same pronounciation as Camille) doesn't sound masculine to me at all.

Camilla definitelyIt's much more prettier and sophisticated in both spelling and sound than Camille. The way I see them is in times gone past (I always place the name in the Victorian age for some reason), Camille would be the brash, flashy actress or dancer whilst Camilla would be the charming and shy daughter of a gentleman. Then there is the sound - kah-MEEL or kah-MEE (depending on the one you use for Camille) sounds so whiny whereas kah-MIL-a is nice and bouncy.ETA: Plus Camille reminds me of the Pleasure GELF in Red Dwarf. A space alien that looks like a giant blob of snot is a lovely association for a little girl. ;)

I love Camille on a girl. I can't really imagine it on a boy, though I know that it has been used as a masculine name (mostly in the past, I believe). I like Camilla as well, but I prefer the sound of Camille. I think using Camile (or Camille/Camilla) to honor your grandfather would be nice. My mn is Georgette, after my grandfather, George. And I know a girl named Meredyth who was named after her grandfather (his name was also spelled Meredyth, btw).

Camille!Camilla is way too tied to Camilla Parker Bowles, plus the Mill sound is incredibly unattractive to my ears.Camille is beautiful and elegant. Camile as a mn on a boy would be great.

My name is Camille, my cousin's is Camilla. And not to seem stuck up, but I like Camille better. Camilla seems too... viscous, does that make any sense? It's a little too flowy for my taste. Camille seems more elegant, and the final L sound gives it more closure. I don't know if I'm making any sense - I'm synesthetic so I can't often describe these things well. :-/

I love Camille - I think of camellias (and Brigitte Bardot, whose real name it is!).
Camilla is lovely but I think of Prince Charles's new wife and I think Camilla is dated whereas Camille is fresh and French.

Camille. I don't really like it either, but Camilla doesn't sound beautiful, imo.Camilla is neither beautiful nor interesting nor anything else, imo.
Camille is nice *in some way*, so I choose this one. It can be quite nice.

Camilla is...very feminine, I personally like Camilla much more than Camille, but whenever I hear the names, I think of Coco Chenille, or in the Junie B. Series that I used to read a long time ago, there were two twins named Camille and Chenille, or Camilla and Camille or something like that. But overall I like Camilla better.

CamilleIt's very feminine and I definitely wouldn't use it on a guy.

CamilleI really dislike Camilla. Just don't like the mill sound at all. The only thing I like is the possible nn of Mills / Millsy.I love Camellia and really like Camille.

I forgot about Camellia (cah-MEEL-yah is how I prn. it). I also think it's a lovely name, and a flower name. But it also makes me think of a chameleon (would be particularly bad if her mn or ln started with an "N" :b).

I prefer Camille to Camilla; no real reason except that I like Camille's rhythm more. I think both are very pretty, though.Camile on a boy would probably be best as a middle name, but I think it could be cool there. Imagine John Camile Jardine or Sebastian Camile Karinsky. Array
