My uncle's name is RayI wouldn't use it myself though, except possibly as a middle name.

I like it. I also like Roderick, Ralph, Roy, Desmond, and Rosamond, in my mind similar names.

This is my Dad's name. (He was born 1945). Most people call him Ray. As a kid we (my siblings and I) thought it was awful. Now as an adult I like it, you don't hear it too much, so he never had 5 Rays in his class or anything like that. Sometimes my mother calls him Ramon as a joke. Sometimes I tease him that "Everybody Loves Raymond". If I ever were to have a son I'd like to use it as a middle name.

imo it is a horrible name. Not only do I not like the name Raymond (although I have known two that were great people) but Ray is a terrible nn (I have known a Ray and he was an alcoholic, abusive person - so that swings me on the nn - so you might want to disregard my opn with the nn). But I have never liked Raymond.come to the edge,
we might fall.
come to the edge,
it's too high!
come to the edge!
and they came.
and he pushed.
and they flew.

Love it! Ray isa such a cool and yet simple nn. I would use it if I didn't have a cousin named Ray.They will see us waving from such great heights,
'come down now,' they'll say
But everything looks perfect from far away,
'come down now,' but we'll stay...

I am a rarity, I love it.I don't know why, but I really, really do.It will probably take off around the time my niece has children, though. Its a '50s name!Elizabeth

'50's namesMy mother and her siblings have names that are just glaringly from the 50's: Patricia, Carol and Raymond.

I like the name Raymond quite a bit. It's a family name for me, though, so I'm a little biased. :-) But I'm positive about the name in general.

Everybody Loves Raymond! :- He might hear this at first, but I think the show is going off the air soon (or has already...I've never really loved Raymond, lol). Seriously, though, I've known a few Raymonds and I really like the name, but I've never met a RAY that is a nice, decent guy. Does that make sense? lol
