Sylvie
For some reason I've mostly been concentrating on names of the male persuasion as of late (John Paul Julian Ferdinand Christopher, anyone? :D) until I remembered how adorable Sylvie is. It's so elegant, strong, feminine... and adorable! Agree, disagree? Also, I think at this point I prefer Sylvie on its own, aka not a nickname for Sylvia, but which do you like better/think would be easier? As far as combos go, for fun I was thinking of Sylvie July. Other (random) suggestions, if you have the time, would be great. :)Thanks so much!

Oh yeah it's great and right up your ally! I ponder a lot about which Syl- name is my fave, Sylvie, Sylvia, Silvia, Silvestra, Sylvest (family surname). Sylvest wins out lately bc it fits best in the combo I have it in.I enjoy the combo Sylvia Blanchefleur for its rich lush overthetop satinpillows feel. I think Sylvie Blanchefleur is an easy and workable tweak on it.Sylvie July doesn't jive well for me. Sylvie feels very soft and rich and comfortable, and July is bright and forwardfeeling and optimistic.Sylvie Victorine? idk. I try to stick Victorine places. I like the repetition, you might not. Sylvie Nadine? Sylvie Camille?

Oh man, if I had Sylvest as a family name!Sylvia Blanchefleur is better than Sylvie Blanchefleur, I think. More... fluffiness? =) Anyway, it's lovely.I really like Sylvie Victorine. Normally the closeness of the v's would bother me, but it works because of Sylvie Vartan. I don't know if you know who she is because I just recently realized she even existed, but she was one of the first rock chicks from France and was popular in the 60's. (I actually don't even know how famous she was in the US but my mom had apparently heard of her.) Cute girl and cute songs. Anyway, the reason I'm even mentioning this is because I thought you might appreciate the first image that comes up when you google her: http://digilander.libero.it/p_truth/the_truth/john_paul_mccartney_sylvie_vartan.gifHehehe. :D
So yeah, I quite like Sylvie V-names.Thank you!

That is a pretty freakin' sweet image. :P I haven't heard of her, but my dad probably nose a lot about her. LOL! I TYPED NOSE! I meant knows. She's a QT! She looks like a Sylvie a lot!I like a lot of consonants next to each other. S sounds and M sounds in particular, but I think V sounds are very sexy. (Also I think your siggy is really sexy. Have I told you this?)And this is sort of more relevant to my post, but the image that comes up for me with Astrid is the uhh idk pretty awesome Astrid Kirchherr, the beatles' early photographer: http://images.google.com/images?client=safari&rls=en-us&q=Astrid%20Kirchherr&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi
I used to like Astrid a long long time ago because of her. I think she is very sexy and mysterious and sort of - sort of hugely important to the world in a really epic sort of way because she had to do with the formation of the Beatles. So. :P

Lol yeah, you told me. That's why I thought you'd enjoy watching John-The-Married-One hit on her. And about Astrid Kirchherr, maybe that's why my opinion of Astrid had changed? I knew who she was but never really associated it with her. Strange. But yeah, agreed that she's important in, like, a mysterious and almost eerie kinda way.

I love Sylvie as a full name--just like Sophie instead of a nickname for Sophia. I think Sylvie July is fun.

Love itI think Sylvie is just lovely. To me Sylvia has always come off as a bit frumpy (perhaps more due to personal associations than anything else), but that notion somehow vanishes with Sylvie, which seems more youthful but just as classy.Syvlie July is very sweet.

Yes, it is adorable. However, I find it much too adorable for anyone over the age of five. I love Sylvia "Sylvie", though.

Wow, what a list! A lovely one, at that. Let's see here:Sylvie Catherine is so elegant. I really love its simplicity.Sylvie Clothilde is strong and feminine! Love it. Same with Sylvie Wilhelmina and Mathilde.I like Sylvie Dorothea because it for some reason is very reminiscent of the 20's.Oh, I want to love Sylvie Georgiana but I just started reading Jane Eyre like an hour ago and Georgiana seems bitchy so far. :(And for no other particular reasons but aesthetics, Sylvie Ottoline, Marigold, and Lucretia really appealing to me.Thanks a bundle! :D

I really like both Sylvia and Sylvie. I can't really decide if I prefer Sylvie on its own or as a nickname for Sylvia.

I like it, and Sylvia. I do think it can stand on it's own. I'm actually reading a book with a character named Sylvie [not that things turn out happily for her] I have a sim named Sylvie Margalit. Sylvie Grace
Sylvie Maria
Sylvie Eleanor
Sylvie Quinn
Sylvie Anna
Sylvie Andromeda
Sylvie Isadora

Sylvie Margalit is great! And I'd thought of Sylvie Marie for a second, but I much prefer your suggestion of Sylvie Maria. :) Thanks a lot!

Far prefer Sylvia.Sylvie is cute...but Sylvia is just much more elegant and grown-up in mind. I can see Sylvie on a little girl but not so much on an adult woman. Sylvie July is much too cutesy for me.That said I think Array has lots of excellent suggestions.

My French name in high school was Sylvie, so as you can imagine, I'm quite biased in favour of it. I also love Sylvia and (though to a much lesser extent) Silvia.Sylvie July is sweet. Some other thoughts:Sylvie Betilia
Sylvie Crescentia
Sylvie Desdemona
Sylvie Demetra
Sylvie Fenella
Sylvie Jacquetta
Sylvie Laurel
Sylvie Mariam
Sylvie Verbena
Sylvie Marcella
Sylvie Sinclair (after all, Saint Claire was a lady ;)
Sylvie Mercuria
Sylvie Florence
Sylvie Briseis
Sylvie Wisteria
Sylvie Anastasia
Sylvie Heloise
Sylvie Windsong
Sylvie PaxSylvie works better with names that begin with consonants, since the vowel-starting names will all sound schwa-y and turn Sylvie Alice (for instance) into Sylvia Lis. Or Sylvie Isadora into Sylvia Zadora. Sylvie Ursula's the only one I can think of that doesn't do that when I say it. So I think U names would be safe, and names that start with the "yoo" sound, like Sylvie Euphronia and Sylvie Eudoxia.I want to put Kana in there with Sylvie, but Kana and Sylvie don't flow no matter what way you put them together. Thanks, these are fabulous. Sylvie Crescentia, Florence, and Heloise seem particularly youthful, in a good way. I'd subconsciously thought of S. Marcella myself but it's nice to see it written out by someone else as well. Same almost goes for Laurel but I was thinking Laura. Lastly, I love the sound of both Sylvie Sinclair and Sylvie Verbena, but could you tell me more about Verbena? It's lovely . :-)Thanks again, a lot of these had me thinking!

Verbena is the name for several different plants (I like lemon verbena a lot), many of which can be used as herbs. :D http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VerbenaIt's pronounced as ver-BEE-nuh, though I always accidentally say ver-BAY-nuh. ^^;; Array

I like Sylvie a lot. It is very chic. I definitely prefer it to Sylvia (which is nice too, but doesn't sound as "fresh."). I've never considered July as a name before, but I can see the intrigue of Sylvie July. I like it!
