Serena and Indigo
Just two names that are currently on my mind.
Serena: Would probably never "use" (since Serene's the name of my old brother's adopted sister), but it's grown on me as of late; it seems very natural, yet elegant.
Indigo: I like this name for both genders. However, while I know I should be trying to find more boys' names to like, I can't help but prefer this one as a feminine name. Also, it would make an excellent alternative to Iris, and I'm liking Indigo Mae already.
So, WDYT of them? Your thoughts, preferences, impressions, combo suggestions, usage as FNs or MNs, whatever, are totally welcome. Sorry, I realize that this is kind of open-ended, but I'm just looking for some more insight to the names.
(Also, I should probably note that I have my "associations" with these names that have driven me to like them, but each one is so dorky that I'm a little bashful to admit them. So it's a secret to everybody, mmkay? ;-) )

Serena is alright, though I'd never use it either.
I also have been thinking about Indigo for a girl for a while. I love Indigo Mae, as I think Mae makes a fantastic mn for so many names.

I love Serena!
I much prefer Indigo on a boy and Iris for a girl, but Indigo Mae is nice. I think Indigo as a girl's MN would be sweet.

Serena reminds me of Sailor Moon. :D It doesn't do much for me, but I think if I met one in person, it might strike me as elegant rather than clumsy and rash, lol.
Indigo, I likewise like a good deal for both sexes--but it strikes me as making a particularly cool name for a girl, since I associate it with the Indigo Girls. I've thought for some time now that Mary Indigo would be a supercool double name.
I wanna hear your associations. They can't be lamer than mine. ;)

I really like Serena. I'm not sure I'd ever use it, as it comes of as slightly downmarket where I am, but I love the name.

Indigo is a horrible guilty pleasure of mine. However, I do think it's really ridiculous as an actual name. Especially on a girl. Sorry! What about Indira?

I have Serena on my list but I prefer Seren as it seems less showy. It's also been spoilt slightly because of the character on the Australian soap 'Neighbours' who was a brat with the added annoyance of her parents pronouncing it se-REN-ah instead of se-REEN-ah.
Indigo I prefer on boys' definitely. The -go is very masculine to my ear and it reminds me of Inigo.
