Sorry, I don't have any information for you. But it brings to mind gorgeous Spanish girl names like Pilar and Alamar. Nomar does have a nice sound. Wait, "no more" is starting to creep into my head.
I wouldn't use it if the only frame of reference is a professional athlete. Personally, if I named a kid it would have to have deeper meaning than that. But perhaps baseball has such meaning for your family. To each his/their own.

Believe me, it does.... He considered proposing on Opening Day even, but I have vetoed that, so he is still thinking.
