Thoughts on Milo?
This name has been in my head for the past few days and I'm starting to like it a lot...I really like the sound of it and I think it means soldier or peacefull, either one I don't mind. Just wondering what the general opinion is of Milo...too out there? too trendy? unique without being completely unheard of? Just curious to see what you guys think.
Thanks!~Laura

I'm from Australia too, so like Chrisell, I think of the malted chocolate powder you use to make a drink. I do love the sound of the name though, but I fear that using it in Australia would cause a lot of teasing for the boy. That said, if I was in another country, then I'd consider using it. It's a really nice name.

It's my favorite name for a boy. I prefer it as a stand alone name and not as a nn for Miles. To me, Miles and Milo evoke two completely different images. Miles is somewhat stuffy and Milo is very laid-back/friendly. I like its quirky associations too. Great name!

I sort of like it, but I can't see it ageing too well.
I can't really imagine a 40 or 50-year-old Milo.

Good nn for MilesI was just thinking of this name too! I was trying to find another M name for my Piers combo. Piers Miles is too much with the same end sound, but was thinking about Piers Milo... doesn't quite work for me, though.I think Milo is cute, but Miles might age better. My first thought was Milo and Otis even though I've never seen the movie.

Milo's cute, if puppy-ish. I prefer him as an occasional nickname for Miles, myself.

I love Milo! It literally my favorite name. I don't think it's too trendy (and I'm hoping it won't become trendy), but very cool and ages very well.

I love it but wouldn't use it as I don't think it ages very well. I prefer Miles because of that.

I like Milo! If I think about it it's one of my favorites but I never actually count it in for some reason. Milo makes me think of a brown eyes boy with a lot of brown hair :)

I really like the name. However, in Britain whenever someone says Milo most people think of Milo from The Tweenies (http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/tweenies/). Despite this it is one of my favourite names.

I'm drinking some right now . . .In Australia, it's a malted chocolate powder that is added to milk to make a hot or cold drink. I know that's not the case in the US and other places, but that was my first thought about Milo - I didn't even think of the name, I thought of the drink I have in front of me!If the drink didn't exist I might think that Milo was cute, but since it does, I prefer Miles.

Milo strikes me as a somewhat immature name. As an occasional nn it's pretty cool, but I'm not sure I could take it seriously on a grown man. There's a bunch of associations to it as well: Milo and Otis (movie about a dog), Milo Ventimiglia (guy who played Jess on Gilmore Girls and Peter in Heroes, and who's currently robbing Hayden Panettiere's cradle), Milo the drink, etc.I'm going to have to agree with hayleyskye that Miles is more preferable, personally. There's nothing wrong or bad about it. It could possibly be teetering on the verge of trendiness with Milo Ventigmithingy being popular right now and all. It's also the name of Pepper Ann's blue-haired best friend. *g*

Milo is a type of chocolate powder you put in milk here in Australia, apart from that its not really something I would use myself. I prefer Miles a bit more.
