I would LOVE to see Dinah on a little girl! It's so terribly underused, but I think it's beautiful.

It's kinda homely and a better name would be Danielle. Just my opinion, anyways.

I love Dinah. I'm not sure if I'll ever use it (there are lots of names I like more), but it's on my PNL and I would love to meet a little Dinah.

It's ok. I don't mind it.

I love it. If i didn't plan on using Lila, I'd definately use Dinah. Lila and Dinah are too close to be sisters :(

I really like Dinah...sometimes love it. :)It's definitely an underappreciated name.

I've always liked it alot - a strong Biblical name and classy.
But I'd hestitate to use it in case of Dinah saur and Dinah mite jokes. :(

I like it, too. Usually, I prefer the Hebrew pronunciations of Hebrew names as opposed to the Anglicisations, but I totally prefer the DYE-nah pronunciation. It reminds me of Virginia Weidler's character in The Philadelphia Story (who was actually born Diana, but her sister Tracy changed it to Dinah). ♥

It's been growing on me recently. I prefer it pronounced Dee-nuh rather than Day-nuh.

How are you pronouncing it [m]I have a friend named Dinah she says it "DEE-nah" not "DYE'nah".I prefer DYEnah. It's cute.

I would pronounce it DYE-nah. DEE-nah to me is spelled Dina or Dena, and is a completely different name. I knew a Dena, pronounced DEE-nah.I like Dinah, and don't like Dina or Dena.

But only in the US.Anywhere here else Dinah and Dena/Dina are the same names.Just a head's up.

In the UK..Dinah is dy-na and Dina is Dee-na like Dina Carroll, the singer.Dinah is old-fashioned but I think it gets used occasionally. I know of a teenage Dinah.Completely off-topic, I have never heard the expression "anywhere here else" and have to say it's confusing!

Not necessarilyI think because of the song most people would pronounce Dinah DYE-na. I'm speaking as a New Zealander, although I certainly can't talk for other people as the name is so out of use.

I think of the old songI've been working on the railroad
All the live-long day.
I've been working on the railroad
Just to pass the time away.Don't you hear the whistle blowing,
Rise up so early in the morn;
Don't you hear the captain shouting,
"Dinah, blow your horn!"Dinah, won't you blow,
Dinah, won't you blow,
Dinah, won't you blow your horn?
Dinah, won't you blow,
Dinah, won't you blow,
Dinah, won't you blow your horn?Someone's in the kitchen with Dinah
Someone's in the kitchen I know
Someone's in the kitchen with Dinah
Strummin' on the old banjo!Singin' fi, fie, fiddly-i-o
Fi, fie, fiddly-i-o-o-o-o
Fi, fie, fiddly-i-o
Strummin' on the old banjo.Someone's makin' love to Dinah
Someone's making love I know.
Someone's making love to Dinah
'Cause I can't hear the old banjoAnd now this song will be in my head all day!

*Joins in singing*My first thought, too.

I was thinking of the song also, as I made the post. I thought about mentioning it, but decided not to. I still like the name, though.

I don't like it at all. There's something about the sound I find really unattractive and I don't like the look of it either. Definitely not my style.

I like Dinah but not the way it's pronounced in English with that long 'i' sound.
