I don't think it's usable as a first name. Shakespeare ruined it for you. A kid named Romeo would definitely be teased about it. In fact I myself have teased a Romeo (but it was a player on the other college's basketball team when I was in pep band, and the whole pep band was doing it because that's what we do). :)
