Carey and Carrie

I'm from Australia and here we pronounce them differently too. Carey is CARE-ee, whereas Carrie is like carry, like you're carrying something.
I think a mn for Elektra should be something short and sharp. Something like Ivy, Sky, Faye, Hope, Zoe, Belle, Mae, Pearl, Paige.

I've always pronouced them the same way (CARE-ee). In fact, I have a friend named Carrie whom we call Carebear :)
Carey and Carrie do sound the same to me. That being said, I consider Carey to be a boys' name and Carrie to be a girls'. All around, though, I think the name seems more feminine than masculine, and so, I only like it for a girl. It's one of my favorites, actually :-)
I don't pronounce them differently, but I know that a lot of people do. Carey is CARE-ee and Carrie is CAH-ree (short "a" like "cat"). I live in the US, and things like that tend to be regional.

I say Carey and Carrie differently too. Carey is CARE-ee and Carrie is CAH-ree with a short cah sound, which Carey hasa a long CARE sound. In many American accents there is no difference between the sounds.
