Nicknames for Nathaniel?
S and I both love Nathaniel and have pretty much settled on it as a major contender for our first son (don't worry, Rowan is still up there lol). But it's a bit of a mouthful and he would definitely have a nickname. I'm trying to come up with a list of potential nicknames so that I feel comfortable about the name.
I like Nat, and S likes Nathe (NAYTH), which would probably be the inevitable nickname from his mates as a teenager (that or Nazza lol). Neither of us likes Nate (NAYT).
Can you think of any others? Any suggestions welcome :-)
Edited to add: Thanks for the replies so far :-) Neither of us like Nathan as a nickname either!

All I can think of are Neil / Niel and Than (prn like the English word but with a soft "th").
Nat was one of the characters in "Little Men", I think? I quite like it.
I adore the name Nathaniel, it's a new favorite of mine.
I dislike Nathan as a nn for Nathaniel and think that it's a great name on its own.
Nat is nice and so is Nathe, I never thought of that before. I dislike Nate too, it's rather plain like a Matt from Matthew or Jon for Jonathan.
I echo LoQuiero suggestion of Thaniel, it's very handsome I think.
Also what about:
Natty
Niel
Eli
El
Nel
Thane is nice too as Isla said.
Natel (like nuh-tel)
Yell (because it makes that sound at the end depending on how you say the name)
Aniel
And I like Sweet Lisa Marie's suggestion of Natha too.
WDYT? Any you like? If I use Nathaniel I'm planning to use it with no nickname because it's such a handsome name! :)

Nathan is the only one I can think of.
My husband's name is Nacanieli (the 'c' makes the 'th' sound) which is the Fijian variant of Nathaniel and his family calls him Naca which is the exact same sound as Natha (NAH-thah) so Natha could be a nick name. There is always Nathan too. I call my husband Nate because that's how he introduced himself to me and I prefer Nate over anything else. The man has like a million nicknames I swear lol.
oh wow - Nacanieli is a fabulous name!
Oh, I love Nathaniel!
I don't like Nate, either, but I'm also not too fond of Nat.
Nathe is a pretty good compromise, but I'm always rather fond of unusual abbreviations, like Topher for Christopher and Thaniel for Nathaniel. Just as nns, of course.
And just Nathan also works fine, imo.
