A-STRAY-a. It's one of my absolute favourites for a girl. I love it.

I like it but I don't think it's usable. I'd say ah-STRAY-ah. I prefer it as a middle name with a fairly simple first name, like Mary Astraea or Catherine Astraea.

It looks like a misspelling of Estrella

I would say it Ast-ray-a. I love it, it's so pretty and has a great meaning. I love how it looks too.
Astraea June

It's Latinized, so classically it should be somewhere along the lines of AH-stry-a. I think it's lovely and the meaning and story are nice. For a middle name I like something short and sweet:Astraea June
Astraea May
Astraea Joy
Astraea Celeste
Astraea Lily
Astraea Laure
Astraea Wren
Astraea Maeve
Astraea Lenore

I pronounce it ah-STRAY-ah. You can also use the Spanish word for "star" spelled, Estrella. Pronounced the same way. Either way I think it's nice. A little out there but pretty anyway.

I like the name Astraea. I think it is nice name and also unique. I pronounce it Astri-ah. I don't know what middle name I would pair it with

I was attracted to it some time ago as a possible alternative to Esther. Then I saw on Google that it's the name of some Lesbian organisation in America :(

What is wrong with that?

I'm not the only one who's jumpy tonight, eh? [m]I'm sure (s)he meant nothing by it. It could be an association the a child would be teased for, but I doubt (s)he meant any insult.

Yes, just as one reason I hate the name Leslie is because the first syllable reminds me of the word lesbian. I have absolutely nothing against lesbians, one of the nicest women I've ever met was a lesbian and we were friends. But it's just not what I want to think of when I hear a name.

My honest opinion? I always think and see ashtray, when seeing this name, and because of that, it does not appeal to me.

ITAI was totally thinking Ashtraya.

I think it's pretty, although I wouldn't use it. It's a bit over the top for my taste. I pronounce it As-tray-ah. I would use a more traditional name, like Josephine or Margaret, to balance it.

I pronounce it ah-STRIE-ah. It's nice but I prefer the spelling Astraia.

I've always pronounced it ah-STRAY-ah. I'm not sure if this is right, though! Still, I like it. :D I think it's very pretty and feminine, but not too frilly.
