Lynn (boy, first name)
What do you think of using Lynn for a boy as a first name. I have always liked it as a male name, but thought it'd do better as a middle name. Recently I've started thinking about it as a first name (its been off the top for both genders for a few years now).So what do you think? Lynn Edmund
Lynn Keanu (vice versa?)
Gordon LynnI recently thought of Ambrose (probably my number one right now) and Lynn as a sibset - what do you think?

I've always really disliked Lynn as a girl's name because I think it's terribly unfeminine. On the other hand, I think it's far too accepted as a girl's name to make it viable for boys. I believe any boy named Lynn is going to be in for a hard time, and will be teased for having a girl's name, and run into the very problems that Siri described her father as experiencing.
Unless I'm mistaken, Lynn started out as a boys' name. If it hadn't been hijacked by girls, I think I would actually like it as such.

I like Lynn as a first name for a boy. Of your combos, I definitely prefer Lynn Edmund. I agree with Schezar that Lynn Keanu is somewhat jarring as a combo, and for some reason Lynn becomes feminine to my ears when paired with Gordon. Perhaps it's that Lynn as a middle name for a girl was so common some years ago, so that a boy with Lynn as a mn immediately sounds feminine. Also love Ambrose and Lynn as a set.

I like it!I had a Great Uncle Lynn. I think it's okay by itself, but I like it best as a nickname for Llewelyn. I also like it spelled Lyn because it's different, which makes me associate it less with how common of a female name it is. One syllable names are hard to pair with middle names. I think it really depends on the last name for flow, so I don't think I could give good suggestions. But it's great as a middle name. Out of the names you have up there, I like Lynn Edmund the best. Not sure about Ambrose though, and it doesn't have the same feel as Lynn. I associate Lynn mostly with Welsh names.

Lyn is a more common female spellingMy parents spelt it that way for my brother with the same understanding, only to be told by just about everyone that it was the feminine spelling.

not to my understanding. I've met many female Lynn s, not one Lyn of either gender.

My boyfriend's dad is named Lynn.I don't think he ever had any problems, unlike Siri's dad.tbh, I perfer Lynn on a man, but I still don't like it much. That's just personal though; I'd never pick on anyone with that name. I'd never pick on anyone with any name.Lynn Edmund works the best out of the three, but it's still not great. I'm not getting a good flow from it. Lynn Keanu is sort of like an apple and a rooster for me, they just don't fit together in the same category. And Gordon and Lynn are my separated grandparents' names, so they combo doesn't work for me for personal reasons.Ambrose and Lynn would be a nice sibset, though.

When I worked for my dad I could always tell if they knew him or notIf they asked to speak to Rev. Lynn Burkehart and asked when "she" would be in I knew it was a telemarketer or someone unimportant. It was pretty funny.

It was that way with my dad as well, when I lived at home at would answer the phone. His fn is Franklin and our ln also happens to be a somewhat popular fn, so they would either switch the two (thinking his ln was Franklin) or refer to him as "Frank" which he has never gone by in his life. :b As for Lynn as a male fn, it's not really my style but I find it a bit refreshing at the same time. I had a friend in 3rd grade who was a boy and named Lynn, and he was rarely teased about it (as a matter of fact, I liked him a lot--as a friend--and he was the only boy I invited to my 9th bday party. LOL. I'm rambling now, but, also my best friend Kimmie's dad is named Kim. She's just Kimmie (not Kimberly) and he's just Kim (not Kimball, etc.). It was very confusing in their house when she was growing up. I think Kim would be confused as a female name even more than a Lynn, though not by much.

No.My dad is Lynn and he's 60. He's had a terrible time with his name. He's constantly assumed to be a female, it's embarrassing to me to explain that Lynn is my dad, not my mom; and my mom is often assumed to be in a lesbian relationship. I'm not joking. So totally: NO.
