Re: Davis

I have a cousin who has two sons, 2½ and 1. My cousin's wife is very snobbish, very stuck-up, and she has a thing for surnames as fn's. Their boys' names are Parks Reynolds (IIRC; Parks for sure) and Davis Moody, all family surnames (three out of four are from her family). Four names, and not one true formal given name among them.
I am forever turned off from Davis just for this reason; not that I thought much of it before. A little boy named Davis (and I couldn't tolerate it on a girl) is inevitably going to be called Dave, so it may as well be for David, the genuine given name.
Of course I recognize I have a strong bias toward David anyway.
