Color names.
I have a very last-minute assignment for my Color Theory class. My prof. hasn't been exactly on the ball this semester seeing as she is retiring, and she accidentally assigned this assignment a few weeks late. She rationalized it by saying that no one of us ever does our homework ahead of time and we always cram at the last possible second, so no harm done (which makes me laugh :D)Anywho, the assigment is to design a children's book of colors. I've got my "plot" idea and my art and design ideas - an animal for each color of the rainbow plus black and white going on a short adventure - but of course I need help deciding on the perfect names. The meanings of the names I've chosen for each animal matches its color, and I wanted to check with you all if they seemed "right", and also appropriate for what I'm doing. And if they flow well!*Note: these names are pretty out there, I realize, and that is kind of what I'm going for.Red
Animal: Dog (m)
Name: I'm thinking Radcliff, Rufus or Rowan, but also
Roy
Reed
RussellOrange
Animal: Bird (f)
Name: Jacinth Yellow
Animal: Monkey (m)
Name: FulvioGreen
Animal: Bunny (f)
Name: Blerta; I'm also thinking
Chloe
MidoriBlue
Animal: Fish (m or f?)
Name: Nila or Livius (which one?)Indigo
Animal: Mouse (f)
Name: Ai
Or can anyone else come up with a different name with the meaning of Indigo? I'm trying to avoide straight color names (eg. Lilac, Cyan etc)Violet
Animal: Can anyone come up with a good one? I'm thinking more common/easy to draw :)
Name: IolanthePink
Animal: Cat (f)
Name: Heather or Pembe? (I think I like the latter better.)White
Animal: Owl (m)
Name: Finnian or Whitaker (I think I like the former better.)Black
Animal: Racoon
Name: I'm thinking Nigel, but is the meaning definite enough to associate with black? Other ideas:
Emery
Ciarán
Cole (don't like)
Blake (don't like)
So: Do they flow well? Do the meanings fit well? That's all I'm really concerned about. Thanks so much in advance, I'm having a lot of fun with this and hope other people found it entertaining/challenging as well =D

Great idea! It sounds like a fun project:)I would choose (from your list):Red: Roy (I wouldn't choose Rufus as it's kind of stereotypical for a dog, but maybe that would work well, then again)Green: BlertaBlue: NilaIndigo: I found (via online translator) that in Portugese, indigo is "añil", so maybe Añila? That's all I could figure out.Pink: Pembe. Heather is way too common.White: FinnianBlack: Nigel, definitely! :DAnd for Violet, maybe a sheep? Or, if you're feeling adventurous, a peacock? Those are the first two things that came to mind, oddly enough.
