Jack or Jacob?
I have always liked the names Jack and Jacob (Jake) for a boy. The problem is I think they sound too similar for siblings. So I want to choose between the two but I can't seem to decide. So what are your opinions?

Both are overused, but Jacob is much more popular than Jack, so far. I've never cared for the sound of Jacob, and every second or third little boy I meet is named Jacob. Very boring. At least Jack sounds "cool". :b

I really like both, but I'd go with Jack. I love Jacob too, but prefer it without a nn. I prefer Jake as a full first name. So Jack gets my vote.

I'd certainly go for Jack. Jacob's nice, but it doesn't sound quite as good as Jack.

I much prefer Jacob, it's a great name. I have never been a fan of Jack :(

Jacob is a very popular name right now. I named my baby boy Jacob, 8 years ago, with the intentions of calling him Jake. I am the only one who does call him that, though. When we go to the doctor there is always another Jacob in the room. Everywhere we go, I always here a "Jacob" being called out of the crowd. Whatever you decide, the name will be special to him one day. Jacob likes his name and that is what matters most in the end. I can say that I do not here Jake that often.

Jack. It will age better. I always picture the name Jacob suiting a little boy but not suiting a man at all. Just my opinion. :)~ Aria ~

Jack ...I love them both & feel exactly the same way about them being too close. Personally, I'd go with Jack because it still isn't as popular as Jacob and it has a slightly more dignified air to it IMHO.

Tough choice, I think. I like Jacob more than Jack, but I like Jack more than Jake. I think you could get away with Jacob nn Jack just because they sound similar. Though from an etymological standpoint, that is probably a horrible thing to do. I don't think I'm too helpful here... sorry! ·•·Eliza·•·

Jack...Like them both, but Jack is my favorite (considering the meaning of Jacob isn't that great).

I prefer Jacob. Jack is a nickname for John, and is really trendy. Jacob is really popular, but I prefer popular to trendy. Anyway, I really like the name Jacob (but don't care for Jake). I agree; they are WAY too close for siblings!
