Re: Shayna and Shani
Errrr.... Shayna and Shania are two completely different names with different spellings and meanings. Also adding that my name is Shayna. It's alright. Done me well. But people have a fricken hard time wrapping their heads around the pronunciation, and it's a simple enough name. It's a source of constant annoyance to me, because I just don't GET how people can look at it and not understand: shay-na. I've been shah-NIE-ah, SHAN-yuh, SHAN-nah (skipping over the "y" sound entirely, then?) and a number of other stupid things. It's NOT that hard! *headdesk*/rant

I work with a Shana, pronounced SHAN-nah, and she gets called Shannon and Shayna constantly, even by people who've worked with her for years. Oy.

Oh, me too...Except my middle name is Shaina. I've gotten Shy-Anna, Shana, Sheena, Shania, etc...

I prefer your spelling! But it still looks like it sounds.I actually tend to congratulate people who get either my first or my last name right the first time. Which is silly, but it makes me smile, too.
