I found it on a website that says that it is welsh, and it means slivery. It is a variant of Arian and Arionrhod, and Arian is a welsh word for silver. I know what you mean by it not being welsh. There is a greek version that comes from the name Ariadne which means "most holy", and a variant in the English Language is Arianna. "But blessed is he who after death can approach the Lord and find friendship in the Father's embrace" -somewhere in Beowulf?
