I want to like it but can't...
I just find the sound really unappealing, plain and very old-fashioned without having any sort of vintage charm. Perhaps Maude would be a slightly nicer spelling?It does have a great namesake in L.M. Montgomery, (known as Maud), who wrote the Anne of Green Gables books. Also, it was fairly fashionable in France around 10-15-20 years ago. There are a fair few lovely young girls named Maud wandering around France at the moment, which I find really weird.
