Please don't do this to a baby!
Maud is horrid! I say this despite the fact my grandmother and my great-aunt both chose this name for daughters. It's such a plain, off-putting, drab, old ladyish name.
The medieval English empress Matilda was really a Maud - the name Matilda was used in official records. Matilda would be a better alternative, and has the bonus of Tilly.
