How do you pronounce Caroline?
There have been quite a few Caroline's posted lately and I'm wondering how you pronounce it.Caroline - with long "I" sound
or Caroline with short "I" sound?I think I prefer the long "I" sound with the short "I" sound to be spelled: Carolyn instead.

I agree with you. CAHR-oh-line is how I (and 99.9 of the world) say it. CAHR-oh-lyn should be spelled Carolyn.

The world is bigger than USA, you know?Caroline is pronounced as Carolyn in French-speaking countries and in Sweden.Of course, Caroline is pronounced as CAHR-o-line in ENGLISH-speaking countries."You sought a flower and found a fruit. You sought a spring and found a sea. You sought a woman and found a soul. You are disappointed."
"It does not become me to make myself smaller than I am." (Edith Södergran 1891-1923)

long 'I'sound.
I know a woman named Caroline who pronounces her name Carolyn (short 'I'). It's incredibly confusing, and everyone pronounces it wrongly.

It depends on where you liveIn France, Caroline is pronounced as Kah-ro-LEEN. And since Caroline is a French name, it can hardly be incorrect. In Sweden we also pronounce it the French way.Of course, an American/English/Australian Caroline, I would call Caroline with the English pronounciation."You sought a flower and found a fruit. You sought a spring and found a sea. You sought a woman and found a soul. You are disappointed."
