Marcella
What are your thoughts on Marcella? I got it as a Nymbler result the other day and I can't get it out of my mind. It's so lovely but somehow has darker undertones to me for some reason. Also, do you think it's too frilly? Someone mentioned that and I could see that point of view as well.I'm not really thinking about combos just yet; I'll see about that later. Just your thoughts on it are good for now. Thank you! :)

Basically I love it for an Italian or half Italian girl, but on a caucasion girl it would seem out of place imo. It's just a very Italian name to me.

I think it's frilly in the way a lot of my favorites are: darkly, snarkily, defiantly. It's no Isabella. It's like Isabella's bold and independent and proud sister. I love these frilly names with something darker to them. As you can probably tell from my taste.I think Marcella's really neat, if you can't tell.

I don't think it's frilly at all, and that's rare in an -ella name. It's mature and a little somber, but not oppressivly dark, imo. I like it a lot.Marceline is one of my GPs. I may add Marcella as well.

I knew a Marcella at my previous university. She was a lovely girl from Ireland; she prn it with the soft C (like mar-SELL-ah). I think it is a great sound, and I don't think it's too frilly, though I wouldn't consider that a negative anyway. Actually, it is a great balance to me. I had totally forgotten about this name, but the more I say it, the more I like it. I will definitely be pondering combos!

I like it. I've only known one Marcella; her family was Italian and she pronounced it mar-CHELL-ah which is still how I automatically say it. I also like Marcelle.I don't think it's too frilly ... but I quite like frilly names.

I think Marcella is a gorgeous name and I don't think it is too frilly.

This is going to sound really weird, but its one of those names that I associate with dark velvets. Beautiful, elegant, but dark. Also in this category (for me anyway I find they have dark undertones though I'm sure many will disagree)
Jane
Emily
Alice
Drusilla
Violet
Ophelia
NadineI do happen to think Marcella is beautiful without being frilly. I like it a lot.

Ditto Emily! Isn't there like a book or something about this little disturbed girl named Emily? That's what it always makes me think of, lol. Drusilla and Ophelia have the same kind of tone as well.ETA: Found it! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emily_StrangeThanks!
