Aretha
Wdyt of Aretha? I've totally fallen in love with this name recently. I use to just automatically think of Aretha Franklin and I actually really disliked it, but I met a girl recently named Aretha and I've had a total turn around. Opinions? MN suggestions? Thanks!

I like it in theory, but I can't help but think of "urethra". That's what I get for being a nurse, so many nice names are ruined for me. :b

I like it, but it does make me think of Aretha Franklin straight away. Not that that's a terrible thing I suppose. I wouldn't use it though.

I love Aretha Franklin. She is one classy lady, smart and talented and seems like she'd be a nice person too. But I still don't think her name is very pretty in sound and spelling. It makes me think of some kind of infection. That said, I wouldn't mind seeing it used.

I think of Aretha Franklin automatically, too. And I hate to say it, but it also reminds me of urethra =P.And by the way, I've been meaning to tell you for ages that I love your icon. Peter Pan and Finding Neverland were both brilliant.

No. It makes me think of "urethra", and that's a bad association for a name even when I'm NOT struggling through Biology. No, no, no. Sorry.

My first thought was also the fabulous Ms. Franklin, but when I force myself to say it and be objective, it does have a nice sound. I am a sucker for soft -th- sounds in girls' names. The meaning is really nice, as well. I think it could grow on me.Aretha Cecile

It makes me think of a urethra. It always has. Not cool.
Why not go with Etta, as in Etta James?
