Vera, Stella, Lydia
These are all making me swoon with sweetness lately, although I used to dislike all of them. I thought they were too simple and a bit boring. But I've added all of them to my PNL recently. My favorite of all of these is Vera by far (Vee-ra or Veer-a, not Verra). It's so... I hate describing it as sweet, but it is so sweet. (I like nn Verusha quite a lot.) And my problem is that I can't think of any middle name that does it any justice at all. I only like it by itself. Every middle name feels like a horrible, filthy compromise, like an inadequate husband for your dearest daughter. I tried Vera Maria, Vera Alexandra, Vera Katarina, Vera Teresa. I even tried some fillers - Vera Elizabeth, Vera Marie, Vera Lynn. Nothing doing! Only Vera, Vera, Vera. Vera Esther? Vera Lenore? If anyone can give me something that won't make me cry out for darling Vera out of possessiveness, I'd be quite grateful. But I suppose I'd like general impressions and opinions of these three dears. (My cousin's name is Stella Josephine, isn't that wonderful?)

I like Vera and Stella. Lydia I've never been a fan of for some reason - I think it's just the way it sounds. Or it may have something to do with early exposure to the "Knock-knock." "Who's there?" "Lydia." "Lydia who?" "Lydia dustbin!" joke.MNs for Vera - just working from what I know of your style. I'm sorry if any of these have been posted before :)Vera Cecilia
Vera Lucasta
Vera Ginevra
Vera Genevieve
Vera Cordelia
Vera Lisette
Vera Jane
Vera Demeter
Vera Elaine (or Helayne, a variant I've seen)
Vera Morgana / Vera Morwenna
Vera Calanthe / Vera Chrysanthe
Vera Delphine
Vera Bronwen
Vera Miriam / Vera Mariamne
Vera Felicity
Vera Lucine
Vera Gwyneira
Vera Jeanette
Vera Kathleen
Vera Scarlett
Vera Melisande
Vera Erzsebet (hideous namesake, but a nice name)

They're all lovely, especially Stella and Lydia. Vera for some reason reminds me a bit of a prissy girl, possibly because of someone with the name I knew as a child.

I've never understood why Vera didn't become popular in Britain given the mega-appeal of a wartime singer/heroine called Vera Lynn. I've only ever known one Vera, an American girl of Russian parentage, though I did know a girl whose middle name was Vera and remember another girl teasing her saying "that's a terrible name". She didn't say why!
I think Vera Lydia would make a lovely combo - so refreshing in a world of Madisons and Caitlyns.
I like Stella too but it's becoming rather popular.

Having known a very bitter and twisted woman named Vera, it taints the name dreadfully to me. Having said that, I do like Verusha as a name on its own, although it does sound a little like Verruca! Stella Josephine is nice, though I'd prefer Josephine Stella.

I really like Vera, and Vera Esther sounds nice. Stella Josephine is lovely! I like Lydia, too, but I'm a little tired of it.

Stella Josephine is lovely, very pretty. My fave of the three names would have to be Lydia. I adore that name. Stella I also like, but to be honest, I don't like Vera at all! Don't shoot me for saying that though! I'll see if I can think of any combo ideas, what about:Vera Celeste (That was the first one that came to mind)
Vera Joelle
Vera Felicity
Vera Charlotte
Vera Caroline
Vera Tabitha
Vera Penelope
Vera Wendy
Vera Demelza
Vera Imogen
Vera Hazel
Vera Bethany
Vera Juliet
Vera Kathleen
Vera Madeleine
Vera Miriam

I love Vera (and Vered as well) and I think Stella Josephine is wonderful as well. I am a bit overwhelmed with Stella Josephine right now actually. It's lovely, especially after a day of wretched names...It seems that a lot of people are liking Lydia lately, but I'm just not there.I have to agree with you that Vera is tough to match. I've tried, but combos are not my strong suit - Vera Beatrice
Vera Gaëlle
Vera Juliet
Vera Katherine
Vera Liat
Vera Madeline
Vera Naomi

Stella is a favorite of mine too, and I really like Lydia. Unfortunately, I am not too fond of Vera. But, what about Vera Nadine?

Oh Vera Catherine is the very closest yet! I think Helene and Eugenie (moreso than Eugenia for some reason) (My friend Amelia was telling me the other day how her grandmother is named Eugene.) (And then my English teacher telling us about his grandmother Ernest! Anyway) and Clementine (it is awfully sweet but I'm in a sweet mood ATM) and Laure are also very good. Annd....well all of them really, Frances and Diane. Magdalene is a bit too dignified and stoic to fit with sweet needy Vera imo, and Ophelie is a bit too needy. The rest are very close to the dynamic I'm after.

I love Stella and Lydia, but not Vera. (I do love your simile about the middle names though)What about:Vera Christiane (krees-tyan)
Vera Rochelle
Vera Georgine
Vera Cecilia
Vera Maude
Vera Adelaide / Alice
Vera Julienne
Vera Zephyrine
Vera Clarisse / Clarice
Vera Maxine

I like all of these a lot, but not quite enough, you know? Maude (I'd spell it Maud), Zephyrine, Georgine and Clarisse are coming the closest, I think. I haven't thought about Clarisse ever! It's really quite nice. Thanks!edited because I'm really excited about Zephyrine and Clarisse and felt I should express said excitement a bit more than I did.
