Genevieve
The name Genevive is steadily growing on me. I really love the way it sounds but I'm wondering if it is too frilly or over the top. What do you think? Thanks!

I love it, but it's one of those names that I wouldn't probably get to use. Perhaps a pet if I am lucky. :-)

I really like it. I do think it sounds a little over the top, but not too bad - its just very romantic and wistful to me. Its not in my top 10, but if there was no way I could use any of my top 10 names on a daughter I would consider it.

It's hard for me to picture Genevieve as frilly because it was my grandmother's name and she was anything but frilly. I plan on naming my first daughter after her. :)

It's been growing on me too, I think its very beautiful and feminine but, I cant decide if I prefer the American pronunciation or the French pronunciation. And no its not over the top or frilly.

I really like the English pronunciation. The French one does nothing for me. I love Eve, Vivi, Viva and Evie as nicknames.

I love Genevieve and think it's a very "usable" name - not at all over the top or "too much," etc. :)

I had a friend named this [m]I have it down as a MN I think it's pretty. My friend was very sweet so I think of her when I see the name.

I think it's really pretty, but since my name is Jennifer, I would feel awkward using it. Which is a shame because to me it has all the hallmarks of characteristics I would like to attribute to the names I use: it feels strong, pretty and happy to me.

I've actually been thinking of it latelyIt's one of the few names that my bf and I somewhat agree on. It's a bit yuppie and pretentious, though. Still, it's beautiful and will age quite well.

I've been liking it more lately too. I don't think it's frilly, but it does sound a bit pretentious. I just like the nn Ginny, and there aren't any full names for it that really seem like I could like them a lot.
