Yeah, but they're still derived from the same name. To me (and a good many namenerds) it's like having twins named
Mary and
Maria or
Alice and
Adelaide.
My Spanish teacher refers to his daughter as "
Elizabeth" when he's talking in English and "
Isabel" when he's talking in Spanish.
James is derived from
Jacob, so the period in English history that was ruled by Kings
James is known as the Jacobean period. Names with the same etymological derivation are, to me, essentially the same name.
