Cleo, Primrose or Yvette?
We are deciding whether or not to have a third child.
If we were to have another girl, which name would you choose out of Cleo, Primrose or Yvette?
As our other childrens' names are French, Claude & Georgette, should the third childs name also be French?
What about boys names? We like Theodore, Elliot, and my husband likes Lance, but I think it is too phallic. What other names would suit the sib set?
Thanks!

Well, I've been loving Primrose lately but only as a MN (I just can't see it as a FN). Cleo is lovely but sounds too much like Claude (love the name btw) and Yvette sounds a bit too much like Georgette. I love the idea of using another French names but I certainly don't see it as mandatory. Check out my PNL if you need some inspiration...I have plenty of French names. They're my favorite. :)
From your boys list I loove Theodore, especially with NN Theo.
Some other names you might like are
Aurore
Eulalie
Belle
Gabrielle
Eugénie (oo-zhen-EE)
Colombe
Olivie
Françoise

Jeanne (ZHAWn)
Carole (car-OL)
Eliane
Pénélope
Luce
Emil
Aldric (all-DREEK)
Maximilien
Leopold
Christophe

I like Cleo the best. Primrose is not my style and I don't think it fits with your other kid's names. Yvette is way too close to Georgette imo. Theodore and Elliot are both fine, Lance is not my style and doesn't have much substance to it. Theodore would fit in the best, as again, Georgette and Elliot have a similar sound.
Oh dear, for a moment I thought you meant you had a child named French. :b
Claude & Georgette are both rather nice--I'm partial to Georgette as it's my middle name (after my grandfather, George). Claude isn't as overtly French as Georgette, to me at least, so you could get away with a non-French name, I think. But I wouldn't go too far one way or the other (like using Jessica or Siobhan wouldn't "fit", for instance).
Cleo - adorable, but too similar to Claude, IMO, unfortunately
Primrose - Also adorable. Could work, but seems a little immature next to Claude & Georgette to me. Maybe as a mn?
Yvette - WAY too close to Georgette. I'd go with Cleo over Yvette.
Theodore - Wonderful. Could definitely work.
Elliot - Slightly similar in sound to Georgette, but could work.
Lance - Just an unattractive name to me, but it fits in the sibset fine, I think (not too plain or too out there, etc.).
Some ideas:
Simone
Beatrice
Eve
Esmee
Estella
Elodie
Adele
Eloise
Everett
Frederic(k)
Raymond
Vincent
Simon
Philip
Vance
Dorian
Lucien

Yvette
I harbor a secret love for Yvette as well as Yvonne, Yolanda, and Yolande. "Y" names usually don't appeal to me but those four really do. I'm tempted to say that Georgette and Yvette are too repetative because of the common -ette ending, but they're so different otherwise that it doesn't bother me enough to dislike them together.
I'm not thrilled with Lance either. I think Theodore is very sweet and I like a handful of its possible nicknames, if that's something you're considering as well.
It's tempting to suggest something French to go along with your other children because that kind of cohesion appeals to me, but it wouldn't seem strange if the third kid's name had a different origin. Georgette and Claude are very familiar names to people outside of French-speaking populations, as far as I know, so they wouldn't look jarringly exotic next to something more traditionally English or whatever.
Not that it might matter to you even if they do. :-) There's no saying that siblings all need a similar type of name, but if that's the way your naming taste runs then it's fair to assume a third would "fit" with the first two irrespective of whether you purposefully chose one of the same origin.

Well I don't like Cleo and Yvette would not go with your current children (Yvette, Georgette, seeing it?) so I'll have to choose Primrose.
For boy's I'm going to have to go with Theodore. It's between Theodore and Elliot (Lance simply will not do). Being as I hate Elliot, I choose Theodore.
The name doesn't have to be French, but it should "go" with your other children. I mean don't name the third one a traditional Irish name or anything.

I love the idea of sticking to a French name, and Claude and Georgette are great names.
I would pick Yvette out of those choices, but its so hard to pick from French names- there are so many beautiful ones! My top five girls would be...
1. Emmanuelle
2. Genevieve
3. Francoise
4. Chloe
5. Eloise or Myriam
Hon. Mentions- Ludivine, Pascale or Pascaline, and Marcellette
I love Theodore and Elliot, but I'm not a huge fan of Lance.
