Jana
What do you think of this name? I heard it today. I thought it was very nice. It is pronounced like Jan-na. Jan is in the American name, Jan. I know it is more common in Germany.

I love this name, but much prefer the spelling Janna. I think it's lovely and very underused.

I love Jana, there's a girl who lives up the road from me at home named Jannah.

Jana is okay but I prefer it pronounced the German way of YAH-na, however my great grandfather's name was Jan (YAHN) so I probably only prefer it that way because of him.

I guess in English it can be pronounced in many ways, but in German or any of the Slavic languages it's always 'Yah-nah'. Just like the male name Jan is pronounced 'Yah-n'. Both names have become mildly popular here in the last ten years, but I'm not a big fan.

I pronounce Jana YA-nah. The common version here in Finland is Jaana, and Jana was also trendy in 90's in Russia. It is a really nice name, but I like the masculine version Jan a bit more.

Ther's a famous television personality/anchorwoman in Australia with this name. Her parents were Czech and she pronounces it Yah-na. It's salso the name of an Aussie sportswoman, and of a former show biz personality in England (also pronounced yah-na).

I think it is pretty. I find myself pronouncing it JAY-na.

I hate almost anything Jan related, like Janet, Janice, and... Jana. Jana would be acceptable, and even pretty, if it wer prn like JANE-a.

I think it's all right, but a little on the blah side. My ex-roommate was a Jana, and she also pronounced it as JAN-na.

I doubt it would ever be pronounced like that. To me it would be between Jayne-uh or Jah-nuh.Either way, I don't like it.
After thought: the 'J' could even be pronounced as a 'Y' I suppose. That doesn't really improve the name though, just a thought.EDIT: It is actually, it's pronounced YAH-nah
