Ebony is pretty. In the US, though, you see it almost exclusively on black females. If any name can be said to be a "black name" Ebony would be such a name. If I met a white Ebony, I would wonder what her parents were trying to prove or suggest. Kind of like if I met a black person named Ivory. Actually, I did know a black man named Ivory, I always wondered what was going on there.
