wdyto Jean?
My DH and I just got a new puppy recently. Last night while it whined, I distracted myself by thinking about names - yes, quite nerdy :) I have been liking Jean (girl) as a mn, but starting thinking why not as a first name? What do you think of this name? Is it too old? What mn can you think of to go with it?
TIA

Jean is more masculine than feminine to me - I like it pronounced ZHAHN (m), but I dislike it pronounced JEEN (f). Actually, the feminine Jean would be nice spelled Gin. (I know what gin means, but Jean looks better spelled so, IMHO)

My grandmother is named Jean, and I'd like to name my first daughter after her. My daughter would be Jean "Jinny" to distinguish between them.
Some of my favourite combos:
Jean Delilah (current fave)
Jean Elizabeth (universally voted "too boring" lol)
Jean Elise
Jean Meredith
Jean Margaret
Jean Estella
Jean Sophia
Jean Lilah
Jean Amelia
Jean Rosalie
Jean Rosalia
Jean Phillipa or Jean Phyllida
Jean Marilla
My favourite GP combo is Jean Amaryllis. I'd never do it, but I do love it.

I don't like it, but really only because I'm most familiar with it as a "filler" mn like Ann, Marie, Renee, etc...
It also reminds me of deep southern double first names like Barbara Jean, Billie Jean, Bonnie Jean, etc...

I like it and most of the other feminine forms of John as well. Jean is perky and full of energy. I don't think it's too old at all. Jane is stylish, Joan is making a comeback, why not Jean?
Jean Amelia
Jean Penelope
Jean Susanna
Jean Lydia
Jean Eliza

I loooove Jean. It's so snappy and fierce for a young girl (or puppy!). I don't think it's "too old".
My favorite Jean combo is Jean Amethyst, followed by Jean Julia. Some other ideas:
Jean Katrina
Jean Lyra
Jean Caroline / Carolyn
Jean Evelyn
Jean Adele
Jean Virginia
Jean Miguela
Jean Olivia
Jean Sylvia
Jean Francesca / Jean Frances
Jean Theresa
Jean Willow
Jean Pandora - You can go a little crazy with a dog name, right? ;)

Love it
Jean Elizabeth, nn Jeanie, was a favorite of mine for years.
I'm Irish, but I've always been drawn to Scottish history. Jean brings to mind a Scottish noblewoman in the time of Mary Queen of Scots. Reading about that time period is when I fell in love with the name.
Jean is also part of that WWII era that I've been predicting is the next set of names to make a comeback. We've had turn of the twentieth century names like Lily, Clementine, Ruby and Josephine back now for a few years. Once the WWII era grandmothers become great-grandmothers their names will (I predict) become more popular.
Jean Elspeth
Jean Margaret / Margery
Jean Isobel
Jean Finola
Jean Katharine
Jean Miranda
Jean Rosalind
Jean Carole
Jean Audrey
Jean Miriam
Jean Abigail
Happy hunting. :-)

I've just recently fallen in love with Jean and my most recent combo is Carys Jean. I think it is super cute as a fn though! maybe a mn that starts with a vowel for the best flow.
Jean Olivia
Jean Alexandra / Alexandria- ooh! I really like the 1st one
Jean Isabella- don't like the name personally but it flows well
Jean Imogen

Jean Olivia is really pretty.
I think it's adorable: I always loved Jean Louise
