Elaine
This name seems to have been popular during the 1950s and 1960s. Has it fallen off too much to be considered for a new baby, or is it classsic since its one of the Arthurian names?
Does anybody know how it should really be pronounced - the more authentic pronunciation (long first E or not?). It's not my favourite but I'm considering it as an E name and it could grow on me (but only as a compromise choice).
There's apparently a Welsh name, Elain ("fawn) - it's beeen suggested that this might be the true source of Elaine (rather than Helen). Hmmm ... interesting ...
