I like it for a boy

I've toyed with the idea of twins Nyx (g) and Onyx (b). :-)

At first it seems so odd, but after pausing I realize it's not much different from naming a girl Ruby or some other gemstone name.

I love the idea of Onyx - I always have since I had a board game involving a Princess Onyx as a child!

However, I can't easily take it seriously on a real child, especially since I think of oryxes as well (they're antelopes).

Wasn't Onyx a Pokemon?

Because that's what it makes me think of. I dislike it.

I don't mind it for a mn for a boy, but I don't like it on a girl.

Even if I didn't know the kid was dead, I'd stil say Onyx is vaguely creepy and overly theatrical.

I've always liked the name Onyx. I used it for the name of a mermaid in one of my stories. Although I'd never actually use it, except, maybe as a middle name, I think I'd love to hear it on someone else's child!
