Gabriel?
I have been loving Gabriel again. I was reading some of the comments on BtN about Gabriel. Some suggested that it was a nice name but that the child would get made fun of.
I don't personally feel that way. I went to school with a Gabriel and he never got made fun of. Everyone called him Gabe.
So what is your opinion of Gabriel? And do you think a little boy named Gabriel would get made fun of? I seriously never thought of that till I read some of the comments.
Thank you.

I'm seeing Gabriel rise quite a bit in popularity, which is good and bad (bad because I love it and don't want to see it soaring up the charts :b). But in the past it's been seen as feminine, which I've never been able to "get" (along with Adrian, Julian, etc....but I love all of those names). Some languages (Spanish, French?) pronounce it just like Gabrielle, but the feminine form of Gabriel in Spanish, at least, is Gabriela, so there's a clear distinction. If you don't want your son to be called Gab-ree-ell but at least some people, though, don't use it. I have known a few Gabriels none of whom were teased, that I know of. I've always found it interesting that people make fun of Galen and other names with "gay" in them, but don't necessarily pick up on that with Gabriel. Maybe because it's much more recognizable? The only drawback of it for me, besides a possible increase in popularity, is I wouldn't use it if my ln started with a B, because he'd likely be called Gabe (which I also love, btw) and Gabe Brock sounds like Gay Brock. For that matter, if his ln was Rock it would also sound like his name was Gay Brock. :-/ It's one of those ones that needs to 'flow well' with the mn and ln, I guess. :)

Gabriel is an awesome. I even want to name a son after it. I've used it for my character's name too.
i love the name Gabriel.
i personally dont think they would be made fun of, i dont see how one could make fun of that name...

I love the name Gabriel, and I don't see any major problems with teasing (no more so than with any other name that doesn't have any obvious teasing factors).
I love Gabriel and I would consider using it in the future as a middle name. I don't think it would get made fun of.

I personally love it. The only problem I have with it is it's popularity. Then again I also like some names that are even more popular than Gabriel, so I guess it's a moot point.
And do you think a little boy named Gabriel would get made fun of?
No, I don't understand why a boy would be teased for having this name. I think it's gorgeous.

I love Gabriel
I haven't read the comments to other posts or this one yet, but I just don't see how Gabriel could be made fun of unless really trying - which if a kid wants to, they can find ways to make fun of any name.
Personally, I love Gabriel and Gabrielle (for a girl of course). My feelings for Gabe goes back and forth depending on my mood, but either way, I do love it.

I don't think he would be made fun of. Besides, isn't there a difference in spelling between the girl and boy version?
