Robin
I've really been liking Robin for a girl recently. On a boy, I dislike it, or think of Robin Hood, but for a girl, I admit it's grown on me. I have no idea why. I think it fits with my natury-masculinish middle name trend anyway (Linden, Rowan - I'm not TRYING to be themy, but it works out that way). WDYT, and any combos? Also, would Claudia Rowan and Robin Middlename be too alike to use in a sibset, despite the different positioning of the names?

I love Robin / Robyn for a girl. I know a few, and they're both gorgeous and intelligent. And I don't find it dated at all. I agree with you that it's more dated for a boy (Batman & Robin, Christopher Robin). Beautiful name, IMO.

I much, much prefer it for a boy. I agree with Siri that Robin on a boy sounds fresh, but for a girl it seems dated. I also prefer the spelling Robyn for a girl. I wouldn't put Rowan and Robin in the same sibset and like both for boys anyway!

Funny, the only Robin/Robyn's I've ever met are now in the 10-14 range. I don't think of this as a dated name at all.Funny story, but one of former best friends little sisters is named Robin, and her fiancee's last name is, of course, Hood =)

Very sweet.I like Robin as a male or female name. I don't think it's dated; I can't even remember the last time I met a Robin, to be honest. I don't really have anything that I associate it other than with the bird. :-) And I happen to find them darling.

Echo-ing Siri...Robin is fresh on a boy, I've recently warmed up to it and slightly dated on a girl, but I kind of like it. Besides, here it was never very popular so it doesn't hold the same dated feel as a name like Gary or Dianne.

Maybe I'm too youngfor it to feel dated. *shrug* I just don't get why everyone thinks that. Diane, Gary, sure, but Robin? *shrug*

I've known lots of Robins.I think it's more of the type of person I've known named Robin that makes me like it for a boy, but not for a girl.Honestly, though: There is nothing wrong with it, and all that matters if you love it. It's definitely not like naming your son Gary where everyone, altogether, would go WTF?!? :-D

Since Rowan is a mn and Robin a fn, it doesn't bother me to see them together in a sibset. I'm more bothered by how discordant Claudia and Robin are. Claudia is so classic and so obviously feminine; Robin is dated (I agree with Siri completely) and so androgynous. The idea of them as sisters seems strange to me.Because of this, if I saw "Claudia and Robin" on paper, I would assume a g/b sibset, with Robin as a nn for Robert.

I know tons of girl Robin, and 1 boy Robin. I prefer on a girl.

I've don't care at all for the name Robin. It was a male name for centuries (a nickname for Robert, as I'm sure everyone knows). Then it became a female name. The result, for me, is that it seems too feminine for a boy, but not feminine enough for a girl.

I like it on both genders. It's a nice name.

I prefer Robin as a boys' nameThough I've known a boy Robin my entire live so he's practically been an older brother to me so I don't think of Robin Hood, or of it being used on a girl right away.I don't think they are too alike sence one is a mn, and I think Claudia and Robin make a good sibset.

Robin is fresh as a boys' name to me, dated as a girls' nameIt's pretty enough, but I can't really get behind it. And no, I don't think the names are too close. Middle names are rarely used. :-D

DittoI love the name Robin as a boy. It can even be used as a nn for Robert. I think it is reminisce of names like Jack and Oscar.

agreeI can't really picture a little girl named Robin. Robins are in their thirties now. I think it's cute on a boy though. It reminds me of Christopher Robin. I don't know why I don't associate it with Robin from Batman or Robin Hood. I suppose if I did I wouldn't really like it very much either. Also, Claudia Rowan is lovely, even though I prefer Rowan on a boy. I think it can work on a girl though because it's a tree.

I knowa few Robins who are only in their twenties. And really, I can't picture an adult Zoe, but that doesn't mean they don't exist or that it's somehow wrong to name a girl Zoe because while cute as a child, won't "age well". The little Robin you can't picture would eventually be a thirty-something Robin. (This is one argument against a name I really don't get.)I think it's more dated for a boy, myself, because of the Batman associations. Funny how different things stick in people's minds.

My mother's name was Zoe....and she would be seventy-nine years old now, if she were still alive.

All the Robin's I know are in their twenties as well.
