Idea's for girl's name (boy/girl twin set)?
My husband and I are having a very difficult time coming up with a girl's name for our very soon to be girl/boy twins. We are both Iranians and are looking for an international name that will sound good in any language (like my name: Laila). We have decided on Kian for our son, which is both Persian and Gaelic (and short and sweet).
To give you a better idea about our taste, here are a few names, we've talked about, but have not fallen in love with:
Sophia- Currently our top pick, but too popular
Ella- my husband thinks it sounds too much like Allah
Arianna-he likes, but reminds me of Arianna Huffington
Sarai-I would like it to be pronounced with long a, but it wont be.
Ava-too popular
Ida- eh
We are not looking for anything too Arabic, but we have though of something like Norah, which is used in more cultures now.
Looking forward to your help. Thanks,
Laila

Congratulations. What an interesting request. International / universal names you might like:
Eva, Anna / Anya, Celia, Mara, Jada, Mina, Mia, Lila (too similar to Mom?), Jacintha, Zola, Thea, Hesper / Hesperia, Nerissa, Mireia / Mireya, Pascale, Montserrat, Leonie ("LAY-uh-nee," or "LEE-uh-nee"), Emerald, Lilia / Lilias, Amelie, Sandrine, Eliane / Eliana, Surya, Aida ("ah-EE-da"), Tamar, Astra, Honor, Solana, Alida, Alina, Edina, Nadia, Marina, Roxelana, Yesenia, Zuleika, Damaris, Maris, Lilith, Ailsa, Eira, Andra, Audra, Davina, Aurelia, Valeria, Emilia (nn Mimi? I have no idea how these sound to Iranian ears. They may be too Greek for you. But it was fun trying. Thanks. Please let us know what you ultimately decide. Birth announcements are very much appreciated. :-)
