Heather's not a bad name at all. Our neighbor's little girl is named Heather and she's cute as a button.

I like it, but I like Erica much better. Heather is boring to me, Erica has a bit of spice.

I don't see stripper. I know a girl named Heather and her name just does not seem "stipperish" to me at all. But that might be because I know her.

I find it really pretty on its own, but stereotypically 1980s-ish. It's good that at least it's not too common for your own generation.
It doesn't strike me as being stripperish in the least, possibly slightly stuck-up because of the movie "Heathers" (but I'm not sure how obvious the connection is these days)

Heather is a nice flower name. I prefer Lily or Rose though. Lily sounds nicer to me and more current. Heather has a nice "H" sound , just like Hannah, which is on my PNL.

I kind of like it... its one of very few dated names I like.

I think it is dated and it has a stripper feel to it. You may not understand why people would say that. I will tell you. It is because when you say Heather it comes off as very breathy and a bit too sexy. Whenever my mom says the name she says it breathy and sort of with a wink because she thinks it is right up there with stripper names like Candy.

I'm neutral about it, though it has a dated feel.

I think it is nice. But I tend not to have such a strong opinion on family members names. Heather is my mum's name.

I've never loved the name, but I certainly don't hate it or think it has any connections to strippers. I like Heather. It sounds strong rather than harsh, if maybe a little stubborn - kind of like the shrubs with the same name. You can find it growing almost always on windy moors or hills, of that kind, so it's nature element appeals to me also.

This is definitely my favorite name from the 80's. though it is definitely dated in my mind, it is sort of nice. much nicer than Stephanie.

I've always loved the name Heather, it's just beautiful. I know it can have a bimbo image but I've never really seen it that way. I have a neighbor Heather who is very girl-next-door. I like the name so much that it was on my long list when I was pregnant. I tend to like names from the 70's/80's/90's best. :) I wish there were more baby Heathers.

When I was in High School, there were 7 girls with the name Heather (in 12th grade alone). In the freshman class there were four.

I love it, even though it has a sort of airhead / mean girl connotation to it. Usually I hate formerly trendy names like Heather, so I don't know why I'm drawn to it.

But I was born in 1976, so it is extremely common in my age group. :-/ I didn't grow up with a huge number of Heathers, but now I'm one of 4 in my workplace, and I've been Heather S. for the most part since I can remember. That's always been the huge thing I disliked about my name, plus the "bimbo" stereotype, but since it's such a common name, most people don't seem to have that stereotype in mind anymore. I do love that 99% of people I meet can spell my name easily and tons of people tell me how 'pretty' it is (or that their friend/sister/daughter/granddaughter, etc. is named Heather :b). I didn't come to fully appreciate it until I was in my early 20s, I don't think. I love that it's the name of a flower, color, and fragrance and I love the sound of it now. I'm also glad I don't have a common mn as well (took me even longer to appreciate my mn--Georgette), so at least I have that to set me apart a bit. So, from a fellow Heather, yes the name has its flaws, but it's a lovely name. ;)

I hope you're really looking for honest opinions, and I don't hurt your feelings. My thirty-three-year-old niece's name is Heather. My sister (her mother) always said what a beautiful name it is. I could never understand why she felt that way, although of course I never said anything. To me, it has no appeal at all, though of course it's obvious that many disagree, given its popularity--especially during the seventies, when my niece was born. I really don't care much for any name beginning with an H, and I find the harsh TH sound in the middle of Heather unappealing. I've known three other Heathers other than my niece. But I've never been able to understand why it became so popular.

To be honest, it always reminds me of a girl with lots and lots of hair. I have no idea why. Aside from that, it's a nice name.
