Lochlann
I know that Lachlan is considered somewhat trendy - most British Isle-sounding boys' names have been for a few years. I've always liked Irish/English boys' names, and shied away from this one for a while because of it's popularity, and it just didn't look nice to me. For the record, I've heard its popular but I've never seen it irl.However.I've been hearing it more lately and have recently really started to like it. But with a catch - Lachlan I still don't think looks right, but Lochlan or Lochlann does (incidentally, this is the Irish form to the Scottish Lachlan. Go figure). So what do you think of this spelling? Is the -nn ending pretentious or somehow "girly"? What do you think of the nn Loch? I personally adore it, although I'm sure everyone is going to say "Loch Ness Monster, ewww, no". :D
